The "Newsletter" tab on your dashboard is where you can enable, import subscribers and manage your blog's newsletter settings.
On the newsletter tab, you can manage your subscribers, remove a subscriber, view the newsletter history of articles sent to your subscribers, and import subscribers from other newsletter platforms like Medium and Substack.
Subscribers
The subscriber list displays the email addresses of those subscribed to your newsletter, along with their status: either “Confirmed” or “Pending.” “Confirmed” means the subscriber has verified their subscription, while “Pending” indicates it hasn’t been confirmed yet. Additionally, you can remove a subscriber from your list if needed.
Newsletter History
On the newsletter history tab, you’ll be able to see when your last newsletter was sent, the number of subscribers, the open rate, the click rate, and the view email button. By clicking on the view email button, you’ll be able to see how the article looks as a newsletter.
Here’s a preview of the articles sent as a newsletter:
Import
Subscribers from other platforms like Medium, Substack, Revue, and Ghost can be imported to your publication on Hashnode.
From the "Import“ tab in the newsletter dashboard settings, you can import your subscribers via CSV file. However, make sure your CSV file is under 10MB and has a header row with only one column with unique email addresses. Without meeting the above instructions, the import may fail.
Ensure the subscriber’s list is legitimately gotten and that you’ve confirmed you have the right to upload the email addresses.
How does the newsletter service work?
-
Your readers will see a subscription form and individual post pages on your blog home.
-
The method of subscription is double opt-in. This means your subscribers must confirm their subscription by verifying their email. We handle this by sending them a verification link when they enter their email on your blog.
-
Your emails originate from hashnode-username@mail.hashnode.blog.
-
Each email's reply-to points to your Hashnode email address so that your subscribers can reply back if they like. (Check if this still works)
-
Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link. However, if some of your subscribers mark your emails as spam or report abuse, they won't receive your emails in future. We take care of this automatically by maintaining a suppression list.
-
You can import subscribers from a .csv file from your newsletter dashboard.
